Freeman Public School Addition

Freeman Public School Addition

Freeman Public Schools, a growing school district with about 400 K-12 students, needed to replace a 1920s gym that had exceeded its useful life span. This project provided a new, 1200-seat, top-loading performance gym, as well as new boys and girls lockers rooms, coaches lockers rooms, new spectator restrooms, an elevator, and ADA access to the gym.

We also created a new commons/dining area to ease space needs during lunch hours and serve community events. These amenities will help the school accommodate 600 students as enrollment grows. The addition is a pre-cast concrete structure, featuring a herringbone pattern to reflect the design elements of the original gymnasium. The project also upgraded the HVAC system for a 1980s portion of the building and improved the electrical service.
