HAPPY CAMPERS: Seeing people use and enjoy your work is the most rewarding aspect of design. We're pleased to see campers experiencing nature at Sky Camp at Camp Catron in Nebraska City. The eight tree houses, nestled in the forest, were built in 2009.

With direction from our landscape architects, each was placed as far into the vegetation as possible without damaging the mature trees, ravine or creek bed. Their placement, and floor-to-ceiling screens, provide a sense of immersion within the tree canopy. One of the structures was designed to be handicapped accessible. Set over a steep ravine, the treehouse features a ramp rising gently from the commons ground level, while the sleeping area is at canopy level, maintaining a “tree top” experience and providing a spectacular view over the stream below.
