LPS Beattie Elementary Renovation

The Beattie Elementary School HVAC Replacement and Improvement project included reconfiguring spaces, improving the building shell, making HVAC improvements, and addressing ADA deficiencies. Design services for this project were completed in five months.

To accommodate needed ductwork, we devised an innovative solution that transformed a confinedfeeling and dim main corridor into an airy, daylit space. We raised the roof over the corridor to add a duct chase, which provided an opportunity to add clerestory windows to let in natural light. We also added windows to the media center to provide a more open and day-lit environment.

We replaced the existing HVAC system with a geothermal heat pump system, and upgraded the electrical system, replaced windows and the roof, and specified tuck pointing. We also added an ADA-compliant elevator and a circulation stairway. Changes we made to the building’s organization allowed for the removal of two outdoor portable classrooms.
