Mulvane Public Library

Mulvane Public Library

The Clark Enersen Partners was hired to develop a program and design for a new library for the City of Mulvane, Kansas. Selecting a new site for the library was a key step. Our analysis detailed the pros and cons for each prospective site, considering factors as topography, traffic, connectivity, and proximity to schools and downtown to identify the best solution.

The new building will give the library 10,000 more square feet than its previous location. New spaces include a large multipurpose meeting room, two small study rooms, genealogy space, expanded early literacy spaces, a dedicated teen area, and additional public computers and computer instruction lab.

The facility is designed to express Mulvane's rich railroad history. Exterior material and color selections emulate passing rail cars, and the main central volume of the library evokes a canopied rail platform. The library is set to open in Spring 2016.
