North American Martyrs School Addition

North American Martyrs School Addition

North American Martyrs Catholic School is the largest Catholic PK-8 grade school in Lincoln serving northwest Lincoln residents, including the North American Martyrs Parish. As Lincoln expands to the north and west, North American Martyrs Catholic School continues to experience a rise in demand for early childhood education which naturally creates a need for additional middle school space as well. Due to this demand, and prior to the current expansion, the school converted their traditional library space into a classroom.

Upon discovery of several other needs, The Clark Enersen Partners was selected to embark upon a journey with the North American Martyrs School’s Building Committee to thoughtfully design an addition that was stylistically consistent with our previous work of the original PK-8 school designed in 1995. After a space study program and the initial floor plan design, it was determined that the best way for the school to accommodate a growing population was to build a one-story, 15,000-square-foot addition to their existing middle school wing. This new wing consists of a new library, five paraprofessional education rooms, three preschool rooms, a new art room, teacher workroom, three additional classrooms, and a youth social room for after-school activities. Energy-efficient design recommendations were also implemented and include a geothermal wellfield and LED lighting. Construction is anticipated to be complete in fall of 2018.
