Peru State College - Wheeler Activity Center Addition & Renovation

The Wheeler Activity Center had served Peru State College well since it was built in 1980, but by the 2000s, its lighting, locker rooms, gym flooring and indoor track were not on par with division peers. More parking also was needed.

We completed a Master Plan that moved athletic administration and health and fitness services previously located in the adjacent Majors Hall into a new addition onto Wheeler, consolidating similar services into one building and allowing for the demolition of Majors Hall to create more parking.

The renovated facility and new addition now houses the athletic department offices, a student health center, cardio and weight training facilities, additional locker rooms, a competitive wood court, upgraded running track surface, new lighting, new HVAC system, concessions, restrooms, an elevator and more accessible entrances. Portable bleachers were replaced with permanent bleachers offering 2,000 seats.

Since the $6.5 project was completed in 2008, the college has reorganized some parts of the building to create new or expanded spaces.
