UAMS - Molecular Pathology & Myeloma Research Laboratories

We worked with University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences stakeholders to design new laboratories for molecular pathology and myeloma research.

The new myeloma laboratory supports the research efforts of world renowned Professor of Hematology, Dr. Gareth Morgan. His research focuses on the development of personalized medicine strategies for blood cancers, including myeloma, leukemia and lymphomas, and new therapeutics associated with these diseases.

The new Molecular Pathology Laboratory supports the UAMS Pathology Department, in particular FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) testing. FISH testing proves extremely valuable in detecting cancer-promoting abnormalities in patients. The testing also helps identify chromosomal abnormalities in leukemia, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells. Medical skills teaching spaces also were provided as part of this project.
