UMKC, School of Medicine, Biomedical Health Renovation

This project includes the renovation of the fifth floor SW Quadrant of the School of Medicine at UMKC. The renovation work included turning the existing docent unit space in the SW Quadrant  into shared office and research space for Dr. Jannette Berkley-Patton, the UMKC Bioinformatics Group, and the Center for Health Insights Group. Fire sprinklers were added to the renovated area along with new ADA-compliant restrooms and a drinking fountain. The exterior façade was renovated as well, by replacing the existing windows in the SW Quadrant with new, thermally broken, aluminum–framed, insulated window units. There was also a new louver installed at the existing mechanical room on the south side of the building. The overall renovated space totals more than 9,000 square feet and includes a large lobby, several conference rooms equipped with video conferencing technology, a serving kitchen, offices, student work space, storage area, and interactive space.
