UNMC - Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases

The renovation of the eight-story UNMC Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases was funded through an NIH C06 grant. Along with assisting with the grant application, we provided all architectural and engineering services to renovate all floors of the 1963 vintage structure. The renovations include new research laboratories, clinical trial space, and administrative suites encompassing 52,900 square feet at a total project cost of $11.89 million.

The new plan reorganizes the faculty and post-doctoral staff in group arrangements, located across from research areas, to foster collaboration among research teams. The building also was reorganized vertically to allow shared functions and utilities to stack, for greater space utilization and efficiency.

The building’s engineered systems were replaced, including an upgrade to 100% outside air handling units, and new exhaust, plumbing and a completely new electrical service were installed.
