Chadron State College - Athletic Complex Program Statement & Design

Chadron State College selected The Clark Enersen Partners as part of a multi-firm team to master plan a new football and track facility for their campus. The existing stadium was deemed structurally deficient, the natural turf football field was in a state of disrepair, and recruitment was at an all-time low. Phase 1 of the project included a new synthetic football field with LED lighting along with a new video scoreboard, stadium press box, seating for 2,500 spectators, concessions, restrooms, ticket booth, suites for entertainment, media rooms, and storage. The new football field was moved closer to the stadium for better viewing angles and large breakout areas were created around the stadium for tailgating and parking. Phase 1 was completed August 2018 and the Eagles finished a 7-3 season with record attendance.

Groundbreaking for Phase II was held in April 2019 for the construction on the new 8-lane IAAF performance track. The new track will allow current and future students to excel as well as provide a facility capable of hosting meets, including the RMAC Championships. The track is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2020 and sits just south of the football stadium. The total construction cost for both Phase I and II is approximately $9.5 million.
