A Colossus Emerges

A Colossus Emerges

The sculpture "Groundwater Colossus" is being installed in Union Plaza, the new central park in Lincoln, Nebraska, designed by The Clark Enersen Partners.

The 10-foot tall sculpture by New York Artist James Tyler, known as "Groundwater Colossus," represents groundwater personified, specifically the Ogallala Aquifer. Recordings of water trickling and metallic sounds will emanate from inside the sculpture. A grand opening for the park is set for 5 p.m. Sept. 13.

Our design concept for the park expresses the nature of water in the park's details in the form of bollards, planters and pavement patterns that evoke water droplets, splashes and ripples. Groundwater themes also are represented in the fountains and public art.
