District OR-1 Palmyra High School and Bennet Elementary, Renovation and Addition

The Palmyra-Bennet District OR-1 residents of Lancaster and Otoe counties passed two bond issues totaling $12.4 million to fund improvements at the Bennet Elementary School and Palmyra High School. The first bond issue paid for renovations and additions to the two schools, while the second paid for a new track and football field.

Improvements to the Palmyra High School included:

  • The demolition of a wing built in 1935.
  • A new career center addition for AG, FCS, and IT classrooms.
  • A new competition gym with a fine arts stage and a new music room.
  • New secure visitor entrance near the main office to improve school safety and security.
  • An expanded commons/dining area to provide more space for special events.

A new 400-meter track and football field was built north of the city park, replacing a non-competitive gravel track at the school site. The new $1.5 million athletic facility also provides an upgraded football field, baseball field, and softball field with concessions and seating areas.
