Peru State College, Park Avenue Street, Streetscape, and Campus Renovation

Clark & Enersen provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services to Peru State College to enhance the Park Avenue right of way that leads from Nebraska State Highway 67 north to the entry of Peru State College.

A new curve was established on the north end of the roadway where the campus entry is located, which allows for traffic to proceed without stopping. The area provides safe pedestrian crossings, parking, and a vehicular drop-off area.

Project highlights include:

  • Streetscape improvements, including landscaping, lighting, and more.
  • New roadway alignment, entry roadway curbs, and roadway street barriers.
  • Street crossings, signage, and trail development.
  • Sustainable stormwater management system.

Project goals achieved include:

  • Enhancing views toward campus, and creating and reinforcing branding opportunities.
  • Reducing hazardous road conditions due to extreme grade changes.
  • Optimizing safety on the pedestrian and bicycle route leading to the entry of campus.
  • Correcting erosion problems related to road run-off through the utilization of bioretention and other low impact development/best management practices.
