University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Medicine 5th Floor Renovation

Clark & Enersen completed a renovation of the 5th-floor, southwest quadrant of the School of Medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). The project included turning the existing docent unit space into shared office and research space for Dr. Jannette Berkley-Patton, the UMKC Bioinformatics Group, and the Center for Health Insights Group.

Fire sprinklers were added to the renovated area along with new ADA-compliant restrooms and a drinking fountain. The exterior façade was renovated as well by replacing the existing windows in the southwest quadrant with new, thermally broken, aluminum-framed, and insulated window units. There was also a new louver installed at the existing mechanical room on the south side of the building.

The overall renovated space includes:

  • A large lobby.
  • Several conference rooms equipped with video-conferencing technology.
  • A serving kitchen.
  • Offices.
  • Student work space.
  • Storage area.
  • Interactive space.
