City of Olathe, Environmental Laboratory

City of Olathe, Environmental Laboratory

Clark & Enersen designed a new standalone facility to house the City of Olathe’s Environmental Laboratory. The facility is organized into two distinct areas: an administrative and public function wing and a laboratory wing. The administrative wing consists of an open office, private offices, a work room, break room, and a conference room with seating for 12. The public restroom enclosure also serves as a reinforced concrete tornado shelter.

The laboratory wing utilizes modular planning principals, with the testing labs at the building perimeter and support spaces in the central core all connected by 5-foot corridors. A two-vehicle bay garage provides direct interior access to two laboratories and the circulation corridor as well as accommodating staff lockers.
