University of Nebraska Medical Center, Eppley Cancer Institute Renovation

In Clark & Enersen’s continuing relationship with the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), we aided in the preparation of an NIH C06 grant for the renovation of the Eppley Cancer Institute. With the grant secured, work began on a complete renovation covering seven floors.

This involved establishing new research laboratory and support spaces and integrated administration facilities as well as organizing faculty and post-doctoral staff into groups to foster collaboration within research teams. Shared functions and building utilities throughout the facility can also be stacked for greater space utilization and efficiency.

Major upgrades include:

  • Two 100% outside air AHUs equipped with N + 50% redundancy.
  • New exhaust, plumbing, and electrical throughout.
  • New window and curtain wall system.
  • Full roof replacement.
  • Metal column and soffit cladding.
  • ADA-compliant entrance on the South façade facing the campus courtyard.

Now known as the Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases, this facility is instrumental to the UNMC’s efforts in fighting cancer through research and improving patient care.
